Event Details
Looking for a greener way to go? Join us for a conversation about funeral and burial practices that allow our bodies to remain in the cycle of life, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. What will happen to you after you die? Decomposition is an important part of the life cycle of our planet. Find out how human decomposition fits into the cycle. During this event, we will discuss current US funeral practices (such as embalming, vaults, and cremation) along with their history and environmental impact. Following this, we’ll explore the natural, life-affirming options of green burial, conservation cemeteries, home funerals, and human composting.
The event will have lots of opportunities for Q/A and conversation between presenters and the audience.
Presenters :
- Robin Simonton, Executive Director Historic Oakwood Cemetery
- Sara Williams, Shrouding Sisters Natural Death Care & Green Burial Consultant
- Heidi Hannapel, Director, Bluestem Conservation Cemetery
