Program Description

Event Details

Inspired by the wilder places of North Carolina, Durham-based landscape architect Preston Montague has been on a journey to bring conservation landscaping to small-scale development projects. Using natural precedents for inspiration, like Penny's Bend, Merrit's Pasture, and New Hope Creek, Preston seeks to recreate complex, native herbaceous plant communities in the heavily disturbed environments he encounters on the front lines of development in the Triangle. Join Preston as he reviews the triumphs and tribulations he has experienced building Piedmont Prairies in his design practice, and his approach to creating diverse, resilient habitat at home.
